Makita 18 volt Lithium Ion impact driver/drill kits on sale at Amazon.com!
Setting drills and drivers!
I got this kit from my brother for christmas a few years ago and LOVE them. I haven’t seen them at this good a price since then, but Amazon has them on sale right now for a pretty good deal:
Amazon.com: Power Tools: Drills
Or, if you are one of those people who prefer the smaller lithium-ion drills, they’re also available at a great deal: Amazon.com: Makita LCT203W 10.8-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Two-Piece Combo Kit.
Personally I prefer the balance that the bigger battery on the bigger driver set gives, but each to his or her own. If you need a new setting driver I’d get one of these sets asap.

Do the small one have enough power over the time? i was working with a 14.4v variant of Dewalt last time – but i want to get my own now …
Hi Martin,
At one Junior Nationals that I worked several other setters used them and they loved them. It seemed like the batteries wore out quickly but also charged back up quickly. They make a higher-pitched sound than the bigger drills though.
Anyone else have any thoughts on the small set?
You are right imho – the balance of the smaller once is not so cool. i compared the dewalt 10.8V drill with the makita 10.8v drill … i would prefer the design of dewalt – the battery is positioned similar to the 18v makita…
The smallest Dewalt I can find is a 12 volt — http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCK210S2-12-Volt-Screwdriver-Impact/dp/B0044DEXPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1305824059&sr=1-1 — is that what you meant? It says its workload voltage is measured at 10.8v. It looks like a nice compromise, but it doesn’t look that much smaller than the Makita 18v.
Yeah – i have to get both in my hands and compare them … but it’s cool that you are satisfied with your Makita stuff
Last night I was talking with another setter who said he has the Dewalt 12 volt set and loves them. He said they’re a little stronger than the 10.8v Bosch sets but not as strong as any of the 18v’s so in his opinion they are the best choice as far as power goes–not enough power to put a bolt in sideways, but enough to get the holds fully tight.
