The New Wall is OPEN!!!

First climbers on The Beach!

We finally got the pads all set up and the problems set and forerun, so we opened the wall!  Now you, too, can go down to the Spot and climb all the awesome new problems on the awesome new Walltopia wall.  Most of the Climb-it finals problems from the comp are still up as well (or minor variations on such) though a couple couldn’t be re-set because parts of the wall they were on no longer exist.

Carlo trying the crazy dyno. He did stick with a couple tries.

Remember that these Asana comp pads behave differently than the blue floor does.  These pads are much softer and more uneven, so make sure you practice falling on them from low down before hucking yourself at a dyno like this one.

3 out of 3 Spot Jr. Climbers say thumbs up!

On Friday and this morning the team (Carlo TraversiMeJay JayJonny, and Garrett, plus guest setters Nick Sherman and Steven Jeffery) set problems from 3- and up on the new wall.  Don’t worry though, many of the 3s and 4s are jug hauls–they just have difficult angles that you’ll have to get used to so they got higher grades.  They’re also good for down climbing from the nearby harder problems, so come check it out!!!

The new wall is rad! Gotta do something about those west facing windows, though – it gets hot as blazes in there!

Perhaps it was those 90+ degree temperature today? Don’t worry, the a/c will be running on the quick!
